Business and Law Scholarship
The Business and Law Scholarship was created to support aspiring students from low income backgrounds into studying on undergraduate courses within the Business and Law Faculty. The scholarship is £3,000 per year of study.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, students must:
Have made ¼«Æ··´²îæ» their firm choice for the first year of a new full time BA/BSc undergraduate degree programme at ¼«Æ··´²îæ» in the current academic year (not distance learning)
Be a home/fee paying student — have a UK Student Support Number (English, Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish students)
Apply online to be income assessed by Student Finance
Demonstrate financial need — household income must indicate that students are eligible for means-tested support from Student Finance with a household income of up to and including £50,000
Be paying tuition fees under the new tuition fee regime of £9,535
Be self-funding — your course of study must not be externally funded
Hold no other form of donor or university funded scholarship

This scholarship is not transferrable
The data on your student finance record must meet the award edibility criteria. To be able to be fully assessed against the criteria you must:
Complete your student finance application, and it needs to be assessed and approved by your UK student finance authority
Have signed and returned your student declaration form to the SLC
Ensure your relevant UK student finance authority record is available to ¼«Æ··´²îæ». Therefore, you must have given permission for your information to be shared with the university
Make sure your parents or sponsors have allowed Student Finance to share their details with ¼«Æ··´²îæ»
Your student record must include your bank details, as ¼«Æ··´²îæ» pays scholarships directly into student bank accounts. If your record is incomplete, your payment may be delayed or not made
The scholarship will be paid in instalments in line with ¼«Æ··´²îæ»â€™s normal Scholarship payment schedule, which is once per term
If you interrupt your studies or leave ¼«Æ··´²îæ» before completing your course, any scholarship payments made afterwards will normally need to be repaid
If ¼«Æ··´²îæ» makes a scholarship payment by mistake, or if it is based on false information, the payment will usually have to be repaid by the student
If you do not receive a payment, you must contact the Scholarships Team at ¼«Æ··´²îæ» straight away so we can look into it
Attendance and Reporting Terms and Conditions
To continue receiving your scholarship, you must attend your classes and hand in all required assessments
You must engage with the requests for progress updates from the scholarship officer. This allows us to provide updates to our donors and share your successes. The requests will be in October, January and May
If you do not respond to a request for an update, we will pause payments for the next academic year until we hear from you. Continued lack of response may result in the scholarship being withdrawn
